Frequently asked questions

Q: Does opening the Share Sheet mean my lesson update was sent?

A: No. Tutor Scheduler & Lesson Packs prepares the lesson-update text and opens the sharing flow when you choose to share. You decide the destination and whether to send it. Opening a sharing destination is never treated as proof that a message was sent.

Q: What if I deducted the wrong lesson?

A: Use the correction or undo options available for that lesson state. Tutor Scheduler & Lesson Packs updates the related lesson-pack balance and history according to the app's current correction rules.

Q: What is included in a JSON backup?

A: A backup may contain teacher or studio settings, students, lesson packs, and lesson records. Treat the backup as private teaching-business data and store it only in a location you trust. In addition, the local database is not excluded from iOS device backups, so it will be backed up with your own iPhone or iCloud device backup depending on your device backup settings.

Q: How do I restore my data when switching phones or troubleshooting?

A: Under Settings & Studio, choose the JSON backup restore option and select a valid backup with Apple's Files interface. Tutor Scheduler & Lesson Packs checks the backup and shows a preview before replacing current local data after your confirmation.

Q: Does Tutor Scheduler & Lesson Packs upload student records to its own server?

A: No. The current version has no Tutor Scheduler & Lesson Packs account system or developer-operated cloud server for your lesson records. Core app data stays on your device. Data leaves the app only when you choose an external action such as sharing or exporting a backup.

Q: Do I need an account or subscription?

A: No. The current version does not require a Tutor Scheduler & Lesson Packs account and has no subscription. It offers a one-time "Lifetime" in-app purchase (one-time purchase, non-subscription, does not auto-renew), with the price shown in your local App Store.

Q: How much can I use in the free version?

A: The free version supports up to 3 unarchived students (active and paused students count toward the limit; archived students do not count). It never locks or deletes any existing students, lesson packs, lessons, history, or backups.

Q: When does the app prompt for the Lifetime version?

A: The app prompts for the Lifetime version only when you try to add a 4th unarchived student. It will never lock or delete any existing students, lesson packs, lessons, history, or backups.

Q: Do existing users from versions 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2 need to pay?

A: No. Existing users from versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 permanently retain free unlimited students after updating to 1.3. To check whether you are an existing user, the app reads an Apple-signed download record from Apple (inspecting only the environment, originally downloaded version number, App ID, and Bundle ID). It does not read your Apple ID, name, or email, and the result is used only in local device memory without being stored or uploaded. If the record temporarily cannot be read, the app will not block you or mistakenly ask for payment.

Q: How do I restore my purchase?

A: "Restore Purchases" is available on both the purchase screen and the Settings screen. It syncs with Apple only when you explicitly tap it, and may require entering your Apple account password.

Q: How do refunds work?

A: Payments and refunds are handled by Apple through Apple's refund process. Once Apple marks a purchase as refunded, the Lifetime version is deactivated.
